PRAL NW honors Ashley Gordon and Scott Anderson with yearly awards

The Public Relations Association of Northwest Louisiana has named its Communicator of the Year and Member of the Year, as well as the 2017 Board of Directors and their Philanthropy of the Year.
This year’s nominees were judged by the PRAL Central Chapter, in order to eliminate any local bias in the award selection process. Nominees had to live and work within Shreveport/Bossier and have demonstrated a high degree of skill in communicating effectively through the use of one or more of the mass media. The effective communication was had to be based on a high degree of knowledge in their field of endeavor, presented with candor, forthrightness and truthfulness and resulted in the social, cultural or economic betterment of the region involved.

Communicator of the Year – This year, PRAL selected Andrea Gordon, director of marketing and public relations for Chimphaven as the Communicator of the Year. Gordon was nominated for her 11 years of PR experience and success in garnering national media attention for the Chimphaven organization.  

Member of the Year – Scott Anderson, senior editor of MetroLeader, was selected as the member of the year. This award is given to a member who demonstrated great initiative to excel in their profession The nominee also had to be focused on helping PRAL grow in the region, as well as be an outstanding member and asset to the organization.

Philanthropy of the Year – The PRAL Northwest members also named Renzi Art and Education Center as their 2017 Philanthropy of the Year, and presented a check and in-kind donations to the Literacy Volunteers at Centenary. Literacy Volunteers was PRAL’s 2016 philanthropy of the year. The club was able to raise more than $460 in cash donations, donate an Office Depot gift card and present supplies as in-kind donations to the organization.

PRAL Northwest provides networking opportunities, monthly professional development lunches, job postings, APR accreditation information, as well as a state and regional awards program.
