Tuesday, March 12, 2019: Get the Facts Jack then Let the Campaign Reign

As much as we may want to Public Relations professionals can’t escape politics. A very important election on the quality of life for all New Orleanians is headed our way this May. Please join us to learn about the details of the millage on the ballot. You’ll get the facts from Bob Becker, CEO of New Orleans City Park, and learn about what goes into a Public Relations plan for a millage political campaign from Malcolm Ehrhardt, founder and Partner of The Ehrhardt Group.

What is on the ballot on May 4, 2019? On May 4th, the voters of New Orleans will vote on a ballot proposal for parks and recreation that will affect the quality of life for all our citizens. They will vote on the renewal and re-allocation of the current 6.31 mills already dedicated to parks in the City. The re-allocation allows for a more equitable distribution of the taxpayer dollars ALREADY supporting parks and recreation in the City and includes City Park in that distribution for the first time in the Park’s history.

Please come prepared with questions about the proposal as well as questions about the public relations portion of the political push.

You will learn:

- The facts about the proposal and what you can do to help

- Answers to FAQs about the proposal

- The jumping off point for a PR campaign such as this

- How digital and social media plays a role in a political campaign

- How to run a ‘campaign within a campaign’
