March President's Report

Did you do anything fun for Mardi Gras? I spent my week in tight spaces with thousands of people I didn’t know, waiting for almost an hour at a time for each new activity. Yes, I was in Disney World. Not only was there the waiting, but my legs and feet were in pain every night from walking 20,000 steps a day for an entire week. There were screaming kids everywhere (mine included!) and it was SO. EXHAUSTING.

Where am I going with this? I’ll tell you. Despite all of what I mentioned above, it’s true what they say. Disney World is a magical place, and we’re already talking about going back again. Why is that? (Other than the fact that we’re CRAZY…) I’m pretty sure it’s all about the BRAND!

While there, I couldn’t help but bask in how Disney executes such a cohesive and exciting brand across all of its parks, and really on all of its property. It reminded me how successful you can be when you manage your brand well and how critical it is to have seasoned marketing and communications professionals ensuring that all messaging is on brand and that it’s woven into EVERYTHING you see with any interaction with your brand.

We may not work for Disney, but we have that same power to impact our organization and the audiences we reach with our messaging. Pretty cool right? I love my job, and I love that our profession gives us the opportunity to make a real difference.
