May President's Report

It has been an interesting few months to say the least. The last time I wrote a report I was just getting back from vacation, with no idea how much things would change in the next 8 weeks.

Working in healthcare communications, these last few months have been the most “intense” in my career. There has been so much to communicate, and for a while everything seemed to change so rapidly. There have been many new challenges that have tested us and forced us to think and work differently. I have an amazing team at Woman’s Hospital and I’m so proud of the work we’ve done during the pandemic. If you haven’t seen our new commercials, or don’t already follow us on social media, I encourage you to visit our pages to see what we’ve been up to.

I also have three kids at home that haven’t been in school/daycare for two months. Luckily, I have an amazing husband who has supported my crazy work schedule and has shouldered much of the load at home. I’ve started working from home some days the last few weeks, and it ain’t easy! Major kudos to all of you who have been finding ways to be productive with your work while taking care of your family.

I’m sure so many of you have your own stories to share of how you have been living and working through this pandemic. I look forward to seeing your responses to our survey.

I’d also like to congratulate my friends Kelly and Lauren for being named as First Circle Award recipient and Member of the Year, respectively. They both have been mentors to me in different ways, and are each so deserving of their recognition. I’m thrilled to be joining them as Practitioner of the Year. It’s an honor, and I can’t wait to stand next to them in October at our rescheduled program.

Speaking of the awards program, I’m sad we weren’t able to have this on our original date, but am enjoying the silver linings of more time to plan the details. We are continuing to monitor situations in case any further changes need to be made, but at least for now we are on target for October 2. Please mark your calendars because it will be a great program!

Looking forward to getting back to some kind of normalcy soon. Stay safe!
