Next month, New Orleans will host IPW, the travel industry's premier international marketplace and the largest generator of travel to the United States. It is an extraordinarily unique event, which brings the entire international travel and tourism marketplace to the United States in one location. From June 18 - 22, 2016, we will welcome more than 6,000 delegates from 73 countries, including over 1,300 international and domestic travel buyers and 500 international and domestic media.
This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our wonderful city to these journalists and we need volunteers to help us show them around.
On Sunday, June 19th we are hosting a media brunch at the Orpheum Theater from 9 am to 11 am. The event will feature 13 restaurants, nine local entertainers, specialty cocktails and so much more. We will need volunteers to assist with greeting and directing the media.
Immediately following the brunch, 16 media tours will depart from the Orpheum Theater at 11 am and end at the Convention Center at approximately 2 pm, some a little later. The volunteers' role will be to escort the group, make sure that all attendees are accounted for throughout the tour, as well as answer any questions that may come up as a local and report back to the CVB PR team of any questions that come up that may require their follow up. These unique and customized tours for the media include a culinary tour led by Chef Nina Compton, a tour by Todd Price of nola.com of all of his favorite local restaurants, a jazz tour lead by John McCusker that will end at Preservation Jazz Hall, an architecture tour coordinated with Preservation Resource Center and many more.
PR Volunteer Registration
We will need volunteers from the PR Council to work the media center and the media brunch/tours.
