Updates from PRAL-BR President

Dear PRAL-BR Members-

First and foremost, I hope you are doing your best to stay healthy and take care of yourself during this COVID-19 pandemic. I know many of us are the thick of the action at work helping our organizations manage this crisis and keep everyone informed. For me, it’s been another reminder of how important our skill sets are -- not only for our employers, but for our communities as a whole. For those who have experienced the craziness of the last few weeks, I feel you, and I’m sending positive vibes your way.

I also want to inform everyone that, given the current situation and uncertainty over when we can expect things to get back to “normal,” we have decided to postpone our Red Stick Awards ceremony and professional development program to the fall. We have tentatively secured a new date of Friday, Oct. 2 -- same time, same place. This is of course still pending how long we are asked to practice social distancing, so please continue to check your emails and follow us on social media for additional updates.

For those who submitted their work for Red Stick Awards, our judges are still on target to provide results and feedback by mid April so that you can still use that feedback to move your entries on to SPRF’s Lantern Awards if you choose to do so. We’ll send your results as soon as we have them organized from our judges.

Please know that our board is communicating regularly to ensure we are best serving our members. In following state guidelines, we have moved all of our in-person meetings to phone calls and emails, but we are still managing operations as best as we can with the resources we have available. Just like a lot of you have been trying some new virtual options for work, we’ll be attempting some virtual events as well. Be on the lookout for these invitations, and be patient with us as we improvise to still bring you the benefits you crave.

Thanks to everyone for your patience as we have been working to reschedule our events. Stay tuned for more information, and don’t hesitate to email me with any questions at [email protected].
