October President's Report

October 2019

Today I’m feeling like a proud PR Momma. Let me explain...

I’m writing this month’s President’s Report from the Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) Conference in Orange Beach, Ala. It’s been an exciting few days of professional development, fun in the sun, and some truly amazing honors for a few of our PRAL-BR members.

First of all, I’d love to congratulate Stafford Wood, APR, founder of Covalent Logic, on her induction into the SPRF Hall of Fame. It’s a tremendous honor and I’m so proud that we get to call her ours.

We also had a member earn designation as a Senior Practitioner, which recognizes veteran public relations professionals with high ethical standing. It is a well-deserved honor for Michelle Clement, APR, Associate Vice President of Communications & Public Relations for the Louisiana Hospital Association. Since she was not able to attend the conference this year, we will present her with her award at our October meeting.

Our own Ginger Guttner, APR also served as the SPRF Conference Chair this year, so KUDOS to her for an amazing event. It was really top notch, and I know I can’t wait for future events.

Last, but certainly not least, I’d love to thank everyone from PRAL-BR who attended, presented and/or won awards for their work. While this is my first SPRF Conference, it’s also the first time I’ve attended a professional conference in a leadership role on the Board, and it made me extremely proud to be a PR practitioner from Baton Rouge. It reaffirmed for me that we are some of the best, and also gave me some great ideas of how we can become even better. PRAL-BR will make a big splash at next year’s conference, and you can say you heard it here first! :)

I hope you will all join me in congratulating your peers who were recognized this year. They deserve it! Hope to see you all at one of our October events!
